Sugar Blue Burlesque has started up here in London now and we are teaching gogo, burlesque and charleston on a Monday night for only £8 per drop in class. A’dora Derriere is away next week in Belgium so I am taking the classes and have just choreographed a cute little cabaret chair dance to this version of Puttin’ On The Ritz. Peekaboo Pointe – Tassel Twirling

Posted 8th July, 2011 by

I had the pleasure meeting Peekaboo Pointe in Perth when she was on tour with the Australian Burlesque Festival last year. Here is a video showing off her tassel twirling skills. I love the massive backbend she does – I need to work on my flexibility in that area!   • read more •

Painterly Pin-up

Posted 31st May, 2011 by

I have previously posted about the marvelous work Angelique Houtkamp and how inspiring it is, especially the way she draws womans faces. Her aesthetic is very 1920’s pin up. I use her style as inspiration for when I do charleston/ vaudeville acts. So, as promised, here is a little tutorial on how to do your makeup to look like an Angelique pin-up. This is definitely... • read more •

Going Banana’s at the London Burlesque Week!

Posted 11th May, 2011 by

I recently performed my Josephine Baker tribute act at the London Burlesque Festival. It was very well received People either thought I was a bit strange and funny having bananas as a skirt or they knew who Josephine Baker was and my act made all the sense in the world! Here is the only existing clip of Josephine Baker doing her original banana dance in... • read more •
